Resolution Regarding Reimbursement of Certain Costs Relating to Acquisition, Construction, and Equipping of New Fire Station Facilities for Fire Station No. 15 and Fire Station No. 16

body

BRIEF OVERVIEW

Hernando County Fire and Emergency Services (HCFES) is requesting a reimbursement resolution to pay for expenses that will ultimately be paid by the debt service associated with the project.   At the appropriate time in the project, staff will obtain either a loan, line of credit or bond.  The reimbursing resolution will allow the department to move forward with various expenses and then reimburse those expenses once the debt service is obtained.

The land was purchased for Fire Station 15 years ago on the corner of Spike Road and Spring Lake Highway (which will not be reimbursable).   Earlier this year the Board approved for Wannamacher Jensen Architects to perform architecture and engineering services and is currently in progress.

Land for Fire Station 16 has been identified and a contract is in process to purchase along U.S. 19 (Commercial Way) and Atlanta Avenue.   Once purchased, HCFES will have the land rezoned.

FINANCIAL IMPACT

Current expenses will be reimbursed by the debt service.

LEGAL NOTE

Pursuant to Chapters 125 and 129, Florida Statutes, the Board has the authority to take the recommended action.

RECOMMENDATION

It is recommended that the Board approve the attached reimbursing resolution for Fire Stations No. 15 and No. 16.  The reimbursement will come from anticipated debt proceeds in the future.
