BRIEF OVERVIEW
The Hernando County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) is applying for the FY2026 Bridging Immigration-Related Deficits Experienced Nationwide (BIDEN) Program. Funding from this program would be used to implement the Hernando County Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) Expansion and Drone as First Responder (DFR) Project to address law enforcement operational deficits associated with locating criminal offenders, apprehension operations, drug and human trafficking investigations, and coordinated enforcement activities in partnership with federal initiatives.
The grant application includes the Certifications by the Chief Executive of the Applicant Government which is required to be signed by the Chairman.

FINANCIAL IMPACT
Once awarded, the grant funds will be budgeted through the Sheriff’s Office with no impact to the Board.

It is recommended that the Board approve submittal of the application and authorize the Chairman’s signature on the attached Certification.
