BRIEF OVERVIEW
On November 29, 2022, the Board approved the award of Contract to Straughn Trout Architects for Architectural and Engineering Services for the Tax Collector Building in the amount of $11,300,000 with Professional Services itemized at $1,457,621.00 which included Ecological Services-Gopher Tortoise Services in the amount of $162,940.00.
On January 24, 2023, an initial 100% site census survey was conducted and located 143 gopher tortoise burrows. Of the 143 burrows, 136 were identified as potentially occupied, and seven were identified as abandoned.
Prior to initiating gopher tortoise relocation, Task 103 requires additional services to accommodate the number of gopher tortoises and burrows encountered upon completion of the survey. The request for services update for Task 103 is to provide additional funding to complete the activities required for the census, permitting, and relocation of gopher tortoises (Gopherus polyphemus) from the project site in accordance with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) Gopher Tortoise Permitting Guidelines (FWC 2020).
Services requested for Task 103:

Design Fee Permit Application $ 11,500.00
Permit Fee $ 23,283.00
Gopher Tortoise Relocation $ 78,832.50
Recipient Site Fee $418,950.00
