Transportation Alternative Projects Interlocal Agreement With City of Brooksville and Hernando/Citrus Metropolitan Planning Organization for Coordination of Engineering Services for Funding for Design, Construction and Maintenance of Transportation Alternative Projects

body

BRIEF OVERVIEW

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) provides certain grant funding to qualified Local Agency Programs (LAP) for projects which enhance alternative forms of transportation such as sidewalks, bike paths, trails, etc. The County’s Engineering Department is the certified LAP agency for Hernando County; consequently, the County serves as the implementing authority of LAP on behalf of the City of Brooksville.

Attached is an Interlocal Agreement between Hernando County, the City of Brooksville and the Hernando/Citrus Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) which defines the duties and obligations of the County and the City with respect to engineering services for the funding for design, construction and maintenance of these transportation alternative projects.

Funds are provided to the County under a reimbursement process as part of the LAP administered by the FDOT. There is no local match requirement for these funds; however, the funds must be programmed in order to be eligible for reimbursement and in some instances Local Funds may be required due to the cost of the project.

The City of Brooksville approved this agreement on January 6, 2025.

FINANCIAL IMPACT
