BRIEF OVERVIEW

The Florida Division of Emergency Management has approved Hernando County’s application for Public Assistance for Hurricane Helene (DR-4828). This agreement will allow Hernando County to recover expenses incurred to prepare for, respond to, and recover from the impacts of Hurricane Helene. The period of performance for Categories A and B (Emergency Work) is September 23, 2024, to March 28, 2025. The period of performance for Categories C through G (Permanent Work) is September 23, 2024, to March 28, 2026.

 

FINANCIAL IMPACT

The 100% Federal cost share period for Category A (Debris Removal) is September 25, 2024, to December 23, 2024; Category B (Emergency Protective Measures) is September 23, 2024, to December 21, 2024. The cost share for expenses incurred thereafter will have a 75% Federal, 25% Local cost share. This reimbursement will increase revenue across multiple funds. The approximate total amount to be requested for reimbursement is $4,300,000.

The Board is authorized to act upon this matter pursuant to Chapters 125 and 252, Florida Statutes.

It is recommended that the Board approve and authorize the Chairman’s signature on the attached Federally Funded Subaward and Grant Agreement No. Z5188.
