Ordinance Amending Housing Assistance Program and Trust Fund to Designate Responsibility for Implementing and Administering State Housing Initiatives Program to Hernando County Housing Authority

BRIEF OVERVIEW
In an effort to expand housing development and services as identified in the Housing Element of the County’s Comprehensive Plan, an agreement has been reached modifying the terms and services for Hernando County Housing Authority in regard to Florida’s State Housing Initiatives Partnership (SHIP) program. This agreement is proposed for consideration as a separate agenda item (Legistar 13817).
Because of the agreement, corresponding changes must be made to Chapter 16 (Housing), Article III (Housing Assistance Program and Trust Fund) of the Hernando County Code of Ordinances. The amendment designates responsibility for implementing and administering the SHIP Program to the County; provides for fee-for-service payment to the Housing Authority for certain administrative services performed in furtherance of the SHIP program; and, reduces the cap on SHIP administrative expenses.

The Board has authority to act on this matter pursuant to Chapters 125 and 420, Florida Statutes.

It is recommended thatthe Board adopt the ordinance amending Chapter 16 (Housing), Article III (Housing Assistance Program and Trust Fund) of the Hernando County Code of Ordinances.
