Request for Construction Coordinator Position Due to Increase of Projects Within Utilities Department and Associated Budget Amendment

BRIEF OVERVIEW
The Utilities Department has experienced an increase in the number of large subdivision development projects and capital improvement projects under construction. These projects require additional staff time in the field to coordinate the installation of water and sewer infrastructure, inspections, and testing to ensure the infrastructure meets state and county specifications. Due to the increase in projects, the Utilities Department is requesting use of reserves to add a construction coordinator position now during the current fiscal year and it will be included in the FY26 budget. The position description and budget amendment are included for consideration.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
Upon approval by the Board, the cost for the additional position for FY25 is $41,694 with an annual cost of $83,388 (including benefits) also to include F150 $46,986 which will be taken from the engineering personnel budget. The FY26 budget amount, estimated at mid-grade & including benefits, would be $110,253 for a full year. The applicable expense accounts are summarized below:
