BRIEF OVERVIEW
Governor Ron DeSantis declared a State of Emergency in the State of Florida due to the severity of Invest 97L (which later developed into Hurricane Debby), and a State of Local Emergency was subsequently declared by Hernando County for a period of seven days from August 2-8, 2024. In conjunction with the Executive Policy Group, the Board Chairwoman signed Proclamation No. 2024-03 on August 8, 2024, extending the Local State of Emergency for an additional seven days, ending at 11:59 p.m. on August 15, 2024.

The Board has authority to act on this matter pursuant to Chapter 252, Florida Statutes, Hernando County Code XII § 21-201 through 21-210, and Executive Order No. 24-156.

RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the Board approve the actions taken by Emergency Management during the State of Emergency declared for Tropical Disturbance Invest 97L/Hurricane Debby and ratify the Chairwoman’s signature on Proclamation No. 2024-03.
