First Public Hearing on Ordinance Amending Size Requirements for Structures with Impervious Roof Coverings that Require Zoning Permits Prior to Construction or Permit

BRIEF OVERVIEW
On December 2, 2025, the Development Services Director presented draft revisions to the Board on multiple sections of Appendix A (Zoning) of the Hernando County Land Regulations. Size requirements for structures requiring a zoning permit was one of the primary topics of discussion. Making the proposed changes will align with the Florida Building Code.
The proposed ordinance amends the requirements for structures with impervious roof coverings requiring a zoning permit as follows:
• Increasing the wall height to 8 feet
• Increasing the total square footage to 120 square feet.
If approved, the Ordinance will be scheduled for adoption at a second public hearing on April 7, 2026.
