BRIEF OVERVIEW
Hernando County was designated a Purple Heart County on November 7, 2017. The attached resolution proclaims August 7, 2026, as Purple Heart Day in Hernando County, which is observed each year on August 7th and is a time for Americans to remember and honor the brave men and women who were either wounded on the battlefield or paid the ultimate sacrifice with their lives for our nation’s freedom.
