Ratification of Application to Federal Aviation Administration for Airport Improvements Grant FY 2026 Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act for Air Traffic Control Tower Equipment Project at Brooksville-Tampa Bay Regional Airport
body
BRIEF OVERVIEW
The Brooksville-Tampa Bay Regional Airport is requesting funding from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) in the amount of $121,125 to assist in the acquisition and installation of the Air Traffic Control Tower (ACTC) VHF radios.
The average lifespan of ATCT digital radios is typically seven years. The current radios are original equipment installed 14 years ago when the ATCT was constructed. The radios have been experiencing issues with reduced reception clarity and range capability for the last few years, which are indicators of impending radio failure.
The deadline for the application submittal was May 1, 2026. The Airport was unable to present the grant application to the BOCC prior to that date and requested the County Administrator’s signature on the application to meet the deadline.
