Letter of Agreement With State Agency for Health Care Administration for Public Emergency Medical Transportation Services

body

BRIEF OVERVIEW

The State of Florida Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA) created a supplemental program for Medicaid managed care patients who are transported to the hospital by public emergency medical transportation (PEMT) providers and has appropriated funds for this program.

Medicaid pays a minimal amount for transport service, and we have participated in this service for 3 years.  By participating in this program, Hernando County Fire Rescue has received additional revenue which has helped offset the rising cost of medicine.

This plan requires a letter of agreement not only with AHCA but also with each of the Managed Care Organizations (MCO).  The Board of County Commissioners had previously granted the County Administrator the authorization to sign the letters of agreements for each of the five (5) MCO’s which is in effect until June 2024.

FINANCIAL IMPACT

HCFR will send an Intergovernmental Transfer (IGT) utilizing a receivable account to make the IGT and will receive net revenues not to exceed $488,226.39 in account number 1691-3426006 HC Fire Rescue Fund - Ambulance Service Fees - Medicaid

LEGAL NOTE

The Board is authorized to act on this matter pursuant to Chapter 125, Florida Statutes.
