Interagency/Public Works Agreement With State Department of Corrections for Inmate Work Squad Program With Hernando County Animal Services
body
BRIEF OVERVIEW
Hernando Correctional Institute will provide inmate labor to assist Hernando County Animal Services Operations with tasks such as cleaning kennels and washing/walking animals. There would only be 1-2 trustees at the shelter at one time and would have to meet criteria established by the Warden of the Hernando Correctional Institute to become a work trustee. This additional source of labor would allow County staff to focus their time and energy on larger tasks and spend more time with the public for potential adoptions.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
There will be minimal financial impact, the inmate labor will be free. Hernando County will incur expenses for fuel transporting inmates.
LEGAL NOTE
The attached form has been approved by the Hernando County Legal Department as to form and legal sufficiency. The Board is authorized to act upon this matter pursuant to Chapter 125, Florida Statutes.
