Presentation Regarding Fire Assessment Municipal Service Benefit Unit Rates for FY 2027

BRIEF OVERVIEW
Hernando County Fire Rescue and Emergency Services (HCFR) contracted with Raftelis Financial Consultants, Inc., to perform a comprehensive update of the County’s current Fire Assessment Municipal Service Benefit Unit (MSBU) rates to include City of Brooksville due to the consolidation of the fire department. HCFR will be presenting those findings and requests the Board give direction for any rate adjustments.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
MSBU rate adjustments would be recognized in the Fiscal Year 2027 budgets.

The Board has authority to act on this matter pursuant to Chapter 125, Florida Statutes.

RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the Board provide direction regarding assessment rates for FY 2027. If the Board directs staff to increase rates, a public hearing will be scheduled in June.
