Letter From Southwest Florida Water Management District Regarding Lease for Weeki Wachee Preserve

BRIEF OVERVIEW
County Administrator Jeffrey Rogers sent a letter on July 21, 2023, regarding the lease for the Weeki Wachee Preserve. In response, Southwest Florida Water Management District sent a return letter on August 17, 2023.
They District will consider an agreement that would allow enhancement or expansion of the passive recreation that presently exists at the preserve, with the addition of a bathroom and kayak launch. Recreational activities authorized in an agreement must be consistent with the purpose for which the land was acquired. As such, any agreement will be referred to as Weeki Wachee Preserve, not Mermaid Lakes Park.
