First Amendment to Lease Agreement With L3Harris Technologies, Inc., f/k/a ITT Corporation and Harris Corporation, for ADS-B Radio Station Site Located at Brooksville-Tampa Bay Regional Airport
body
BRIEF OVERVIEW
The original ADS-B radio station site lease agreement originally dated August 10, 2010, was between Hernando County and ITT Corporation. ITT Corporation merged with Harris Corporation effective December 31, 2015, and Harris Corporation changed its name to L3Harris Technologies, Inc., effective June 29, 2019. The ADS-B radio station site is an integral part of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) National Airspace System (NAS). The contract expires at the end of GFY 2025. This amendment will accommodate services beyond GFY 2025 by removing the September 30, 2025, occupancy limitation and replacing it with a limitation based on the then-current FAA contract, thereby providing assurance to the airport that the lease remains valid only if the lessee has an active contract with the FAA that is supported by the leased premises.
The ADS-B Radio Station site supports the next generation (Nextgen) of air traffic control utilizing GPS positioning of aircraft. The Nextgen system also improves aviation safety, increases operational efficiency, and gives better performance through satellite-based technologies. Brooksville-Tampa Bay Regional Airport was determined to be a location that will provide coverage for enroute aircraft as well as for a portion of the eastern Gulf of Mexico. The location of the ADS-B Radio Station site at the airport should also allow for tracking and reporting of appropriately equipped aircraft on the ground further enhancing safety at BKV.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
There is no financial impact to the Airport.
