body

BRIEF OVERVIEW

Waterways Advisory Committee (WAC) Chairman, Chris Licata, brings forth requests from the WAC as follows:

1.                     WAC request attendance of the following agencies to each WAC meeting:  Southwest Florida Water Management District (SWFWMD), Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP), Hernando County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO), Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC), Hernando County Health Department and Hernando County Code Enforcement.

2.                     WAC requests a breakdown of the fine ($123) associated with violating the Special Protection Zone (SPZ) rule from the HCSO.

The below motions were made at the WAC meeting on March 19, 2024, and require action by the Board:

1.                     Change the meeting frequency of the WAC to monthly.

2.                     Change the location of all WAC meetings to the Weeki Wachee Area Club.

FINANCIAL IMPACT

A source of funding to video recording the additional meetings (if approved) will need to be identified as the current FY 23/24 budget does not have funding to cover the cost.

LEGAL NOTE

The Board is authorized to act upon this matter pursuant to Chapter 125, Florida Statutes.
