Memorandum of Understanding With Utilities Department for Obligation of American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) Funds to Provide Necessary Investments for Water and Sewer Infrastructure Projects

body

BRIEF OVERVIEW

On October 22, 2024, Agenda Item #14459 the Board provided direction for the use of ARPA funding.

Subsequent to this meeting, previously identified Utilities projects eligible for the use of ARPA funding were canceled. This allows for an additional $500,00.00 in ARPA funds to be obligated for change order and contingency funds for utilities projects for existing ARPA funded water and sewer contracts entered into by December 31, 2024.

Staff is requesting that $500,000.00 be obligated for change order and contingency funds for Water/Sewer infrastructure projects funded through American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA); the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) and scope of work are attached for consideration. This has no impact on the direction provided by the BOCC on October 22, 2024, as these are additional, unanticipated funds.

Once the interdepartmental MOU is approved, the Utilities Department will utilize the funds based on individual project needs.

FINANCIAL IMPACT

There is no immediate financial impact. Specific expenditures will be identified at a later time.  Funds are available within Fund 1555 American Rescue.

LEGAL NOTE

The Board is authorized to act on this matter pursuant to Chapter 125, Florida Statutes.
