Letter From Southwest Florida Water Management District Regarding Review of Surface Water Improvement and Management Program Priority List

BRIEF OVERVIEW
Received the attached letter from Southwest Florida Water Management District, (SWFWMD) Manager Vivianna Bendixson notifying that SWFWMD is initiating the process to review the Surface Water Improvement and Management (SWIM) Priority List, which includes the Weeki Wachee River. To date, SWFWMD’s staff have not identified any needed updates to the current List, which assists in prioritizing resources and project funding.
For reference, SWFWMD’s website contains updates for ongoing and completed projects and all of the twelve (12) SWIM Plans including descriptions of each SWIM priority water body, issues, status and trends as well the goals and accomplishments for each water body. No revisions to the current SWIM Program Priority List have been identified at this time, SWFWMD’s staff anticipates recommending no changes to the List to the Governing Board, which will consider the matter at it’s December 2025 meeting. Following the Governing Board approval, the SWIM Program Priority List will be forwarded to the Florida Department of Environmental Protection.
