BRIEF OVERVIEW
The State of Florida annually provides funding to support the operation and maintenance of countywide library services through the State Aid to Libraries Grant Program. One of the program requirements is that each participating library system maintain a current Long Range Plan adopted or approved by its governing body.
The Hernando County Public Library System has updated its Long Range Plan for the period of October 2026 to September 2031. The updated plan outlines the library system’s goals, priorities, and strategies for providing library services to the community over the next five years. The plan is attached for review and approval by the Board.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
There is no direct budget impact. Approval allows the Hernando County Public Library System to remain eligible to receive State Aid to Libraries Grant funding.

The Board has the authority to act upon this matter pursuant to Chapter 125, Florida Statutes.

RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the Board approve the Hernando County Public Library System Long Range Plan for 2026 through 2031 in order to comply with the requirements of the State Aid to Libraries Grant Program and maintain eligibility for state funding.
