Federally Funded Sub-Award and Grant Agreement With State Division of Emergency Management for Expenses Resulting From Hurricane Ian
body
BRIEF OVERVIEW
Hurricane Ian, a catastrophic Category 4 storm with winds topping 140 mph and a storm surge of up to 18 feet made landfall on the western coast of Florida. As a result of Hurricane Ian, pursuant to his authority under the Stafford Act, President Biden signed a major disaster declaration, which authorized a number of federal disaster assistance programs. FEMA’s Public Assistance Program provides supplemental grants to state, tribal, territorial, and local governments, and certain types of private non-profits so communities can quickly respond to and recover from major disasters or emergencies. After an event like a hurricane these grants help communities to cover their costs for debris removal, life-saving emergency protective measures, and restoring public infrastructure. The anticipated reimbursement amount for category B - Emergency Protective Measures is $411,677.00 with a maximum reimbursable for Category Z - Management and Administrative costs of $20,583.00.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
The Federal share of eligible costs reimbursed at a minimum of 75%, State share of 12.5% and Local share of 12.5%.
