Resolution Designating Richloam Clay Sink Road as No Thru Trucks Route and Reducing Speed Limit to 20 MPH; and Providing for Placement of “No Thru Truck” and “20 MPH” Signs
body
BRIEF OVERVIEW
Richloam Clay Sink Road is a very narrow roadway which connects Cortez Boulevard (SR 50) to CR 491. Due to the connectivity between the two roadways, cut-thru tractor trailers are traveling along Richloam Clay Sink Road without having any commercial purpose along the roadway.
Staff is recommending that “No Thru Trucks” signage be placed at each end and “20 MPH” speed limit signage be placed along both sides of Richloam Clay Sink Road. This signage will limit the truck traffic to those having legitimate business on Richloam Clay Sink Road or its connecting roadways and reducing the speed limit to 20 MPH will protect the public’s health, safety and welfare.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
Funds in the amount of $2,000 are available from Hernando County Department of Public Works, via encumbrance in:
Fund: 1011 - Transportation Trust Fund, Department: 03081 - DPW-Traffic Division, Account: 5305310 - Materials-Signs. Signage installation will be accomplished by in-house staff.
LEGAL NOTE
The Board is authorized to act on this matter pursuant to Section 20-62 of the Codified Ordinances and Chapter 316, Florida Statutes.
