BRIEF OVERVIEW
Hernando County Fire Rescue’s Medical Director Contract #10-0055 will terminate on July 12, 2023. Florida Statute 401.265 requires life support transportation services to employ or contract with a medical director. As such, an Invitation to Quote (ITQ) for the provision of Interim Medical Director services was issued on May 4, 2023.
The ITQ was issued to six (6) potential suppliers and the following two (2) responses were received (listed in alphabetical order).
• Prehospital Medical Consultants, LLC. Dr. Jameson, Dr. Smith $10,500.00/mo.
• SOS Care Solutions, Bennet Consulting, LLC. Dr. Bennett $5,416.67/mo.
The interim contract will be in effect for a period of nine months or until Hernando County Board of County Commissioners executes a Hernando County Fire Rescue Medical Director contract pending the issuance of a Request for Proposals (RFP) for said services.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
1691-02491-5303115, Professional Services-Med Director has sufficient budget in both FY 23 and FY 24 for this service.
LEGAL NOTE
Pursuant to Hernando County Ordinance section 2-108(c)(1) an exception to the bidding requirements is permitted when the board declares by a majority vote that an emergency exists (Legal Request #2010-263). The Board has the authority to take the recommended action on this item pursuant to Chapter 125, Florida Statutes.

RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the board approve the following:
1. Declare by majority vote that the termination of Hernando County Fire Rescue’s Medical Director Contract No. 10-0055 on July 12, 2023, constitutes an emergency.
2. Approve and authorize the Chairman’s signature on attached Professional Services Contract No. 23-PS00362/CR for SOS Care Solutions, LLC (Roderick Bennett, MD), as Interim Medical Director.
