BRIEF OVERVIEW
A State-Funded Grant Agreement between the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) and Hernando County has been received for funding the construction activities associated with the Ridge Manor Road Paving project (Faculty/Kedrone/Tombstone/Umbrella Rock from Shasta Street to Wickshire Street).
The funding for this project was applied for through the Small County Outreach Program (SCOP) in 2020. Hernando County has completed the design of the project using in-house staff. This project will pave the "missing link" (Umbrella Rock, Top Rock, Tombstone, Kedrone and Faculty in the Ridge Manor subdivision to provide a "loop road" that will connect SR35 (US98) and SR50. This will lead to enhanced access for the subdivision to access either of the evacuation routes from Ridge Manor. Ridge Manor was platted/developed beginning in the 1950s and continues to develop today. The overall subdivision has approximately 4,500 lots with approximately 1,250 developed.
An associated grant resolution and budget resolution are attached to this item for the Board's consideration and approval.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
The grant will provide the County reimbursement by the FDOT up to $531,568.00 for construction activities. The grant has a local participation requirement in the amount of $177,190.00 and any expenses incurred over the $708,758.00 agreement amount will be the responsibility of Hernando County. The local participation amount is available in the Constitutional Gas Tax Fund Account 1013-03211-5909967 (Budget Reserves-Capital Improvement Project).
