body

BRIEF OVERVIEW

An email correspondence was received from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement advising that $64,081.00 in Federal FY 2023 Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Program funding has been set aside for use by all units of government within Hernando County.  The Board of County Commissioners’ approval is needed to participate and apply for the funding.  There is no match requirement.

As a condition of participation, the units of government must reach a consensus concerning expenditure of the funds.  This consensus must include the projects to be implemented as well as the agency responsible for such implementation.

The Hernando County Substance Abuse Policy Advisory Board (SAPAB) will coordinate this process on behalf of the Board of County Commissioners.

FINANCIAL IMPACT

No financial impact; there is no match required for the funding if awarded.

LEGAL NOTE

The Board has the authority to take action on this matter pursuant to Chapter 125, Florida Statutes.
