Ratification of Nomination Form to Lowe's 2026 Community Impact Grant Program for Stewy's Skate Park Project Located at Pioneer Park

body
BRIEF OVERVIEW
On February 27, 2026, Lowe's launched a nationwide call for communities to nominate impactful renovation projects that strengthen local resources and public spaces. Nominations were open through March 20, 2026. Lowe's will fund up to 100 large scale renovation grants for eligible projects which will include improvements to community spaces.

A nomination form was completed for Pioneer Park (Stewy's Skate Park) for the replacement of the skate ramps, pavilions/shade structures, and beautification with Florida friendly landscaping to include site clean-up, mulching, and the organization of community volunteer events to assist with planting and beautification activities. While the skating surface continues to function well, the surrounding environment would benefit from beautification and improvements that enhance the overall experience for visitors and appeal to all ages. The project has an estimated cost of $200,000 and the application was submitted for that amount. This project is not currently budgeted, but the total costs of the project are part of the estimated costs for CIP 111904 FY 28 (unfunded). If selected, the projects would be advertised as community events with public participation and Lowe's encourages the participation of their local employees. In addition, to the improvements submitted in the grant application, the County plans on future improvements to include the addition of new amenities to the skate park including BMX Track, Tot bike track, Walking Trail, pavilions. (CIP Project 111904). These improvements would remain part of CIP 111904 FY 28 - Skate Park Replacement - Pioneer Park.

The grant application was submitted on March 19, 2026. If selected, the projects would be advertised as community events with public participation, including Lowe's encouraging the participa...
