Discussion Regarding Harvesting Vessel for Use in County Lakes and Waterbodies

BRIEF OVERVIEW
Staff has been directed to review operational costs and provide information for the Board of County Commissioners to consider regarding the purchasing, lease, or outsourcing of a harvesting vessel for the Hernando County Lakes/Waterbodies. A harvesting vessel will remove tussock and other aquatic vegetation materials that accumulate throughout waterbodies, restrict boating access and create fishing restrictions. Having this equipment available would allow Aquatic Services to create a annual maintenance schedule to keep the identified waterbodies clear of vegetation.

RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the Board discuss this agenda item, take public comment, and provide staff direction in regard to a harvesting vessel for the Hernando County Lakes/Waterbodies.
