Resolution Providing for Installation of Designated Stop Signs Within Royal Highlands Area

body

BRIEF OVERVIEW

The Department of Public Works requested through its continuing services agreement with traffic consultant, Burgess & Nipple, Inc., a traffic analysis for the placement of stop conditions within the Royal Highlands area.  Burgess & Nipple, Inc., provided a Stop Sign Inventory and Analysis for the placement of stop signs at intersections within the Royal Highlands area. The analysis was completed utilizing aerial mapping and geometrics and is limited to stop sign placement only.  Regulatory, warning, or guide signs within the specified area were not part of this review.  The list detailing the proposed stop sign placements has been approved by staff and is attached for the Board’s review and approval, along with the authorizing resolution.

The project includes 87 stop signs at $125.00 each, in the total amount of $10,875.00.

FINANCIAL IMPACT

Funding for the signs is estimated at $10,875.00 and is available in FY 2024 Budget Account No. 1017-03233-5305310 (Local Option Gas Tax, Traffic, Materials-Signs.)  Signage installation will be accomplished by in-house staff.

LEGAL NOTE

The Board has the authority to provide for the installation of stop signs pursuant to Section 316.006(3)(a), Florida Statutes.
