Acceptance of FY 2024-25 State Department of Health Emergency Medical Services Grant Funds for Improvement and Expansion of Pre-Hospital Emergency Medical Services and Associated Budget Resolution

BRIEF OVERVIEW
Florida State Emergency Medical Services (EMS) grant funds are derived from surcharges levied on fines for various traffic violations. The Department of Health (DOH), Bureau of Emergency Medical Services is authorized by Chapter 401, Part 11, Florida Statutes to distribute these funds to county governments and their emergency medical services providers. The goal of the program is to improve and expand pre-hospital emergency medical services.
Hernando County's FY 2025 grant award is $25,930 to be expended in FY 2025. Hernando County Fire and Emergency Services (HCFES) will purchase ballistic vests and laryngoscope necessities.
The Florida Department of Health has made internal updates to their processes for this grant and are no longer requiring an application nor a Memorandum of Understanding. The Florida Department of Heath will be sending each County their allotment for the County's to track expenditures. The County will continue to monitor the spending of the funds utilizing the GMS system and will continue to perform a single audit each year. Reporting to the State DOH will no longer be necessary for expenditures.
