Resolution Amending Hernando County Fire and Emergency Services Fee Schedule

BRIEF OVERVIEW
The Board of County Commissioners held a workshop on May 2, 2023. During this meeting, ambulance billing rates were discussed. Hernando County Fire and Emergency Services is requesting to increase the ambulance billing rates effective August 1, 2023, as shown in the attachment. Our current rates were last updated in July 2017. The new billing schedule also includes the adjustment of Special Event rates to include current personnel and vehicle costs.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
Should the increase of ambulance rates bring a conservative 50% collection rate, the increase would be approximately $4,400,000 annually. This increase would stabilize Fund 1691, EMS fund.

The Board is authorized to act on this matter pursuant to Chapter 125, Florida Statutes.

RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the Board approve and authorize the Chairman’s signature on the attached resolution for EMS billing rates.
