BRIEF OVERVIEW

Hernando County submitted a grant application to the U.S. Department of Agriculture Natural Resources Conservation Service’s Composting and Food Waste Reduction Pilot Program (CFWR) Grant to support 75% of the costs associated with contractual services and equipment purchases towards the establishment of the County’s planned capital improvement project for a compost facility at the landfill.  Hernando County has received notification of award and a grant agreement (Award No. NR233A750005C007) for Board approval.  The grant award is in the amount of $299,965.00.

 

FINANCIAL IMPACT

Increase of $400,882.00 in Revenue Accounts 4411-33401-(3892341 and 3999078), 299,965 grant award and 100,917 in local funds for grant match and Expense Accounts 4411-33401-(5626401, 5305201, 5304406, 5303103 & 5303401).

 

LEGAL NOTE

The Board has the authority to act on this matter pursuant to Chapter 125, Florida Statutes.

RECOMMENDATION

It is recommended that the Board approve and authorize the Chairman’s signature on the attached USDA CFWR Grant Agreement and attached associated budget resolution in support of the planned capital improvement for a compost facility at the landfill.
