BRIEF OVERVIEW
The Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) has announced the Fiscal Year 2024 Bulletproof Vest Partnership (BVP) application funding period. BJA makes grants to local governments to protect the lives of law enforcement officers by helping law enforcement agencies provide officers with armor vests.
The Hernando County Sheriff’s Office is asking for approval to submit an application for funding to replace 65 vests within the grant award period. The Hernando County Sheriff’s Office is requesting funding in the amount of $27,957 with a required match of $27,957. If this grant is awarded, documentation will be presented to the Board for acceptance.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
No financial impact at this time. If awarded the grant, there will be an increase in revenue to the grant department along with required match of $27,957.

The Board has the authority to take action pursuant to Chapter 125, Florida Statutes.

RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the Board approve and authorize Hernando County Sheriff’s Office Accounting Specialist, Natasha Russell, to submit the grant application electronically. If the grant is awarded, documentation will be presented to the Board for acceptance.
