BRIEF OVERVIEW

In accordance with Board of County Commissioner’s Policy No. 16-1, relative to Municipal Service Benefit Units (MSBU), the parcels listed below in the Hernando Oaks Subdivision were inadvertently overcharged for their Hernando County Fire assessment.  Staff is requesting reimbursement of $103.29 for each of the five parcels mistakenly assessed during 2022 as these parcels are classified as DRA (Drainage Retention Areas) and should not be assessed.

FINANCIAL IMPACT

There is a budget impact of $516.45 to the Hernando County Fire Rescue in:

 

Fund:  1661 - HC Fire Rescue-Fire, Department:  02261 - HC Fire Rescue-Fire, Account:  5304921 - Oper Exp-Rmb Spcl Assess.

 

There is a Budget Amendment currently being processed to make sure there are enough funds in the account.

 

LEGAL NOTE

The Board has the authority to act on this matter pursuant to Chapter 125, Florida Statutes.

RECOMMENDATION

It is recommended that the Board authorize Hernando County Fire Rescue and Emergency Services to reimburse Hernando Oaks Master Association, Inc., for the MSBU overpayments.
