BRIEF OVERVIEW
Firehouse Subs Foundation offers a grant for up to $40,000.00 to provide local communities lifesaving equipment and prevention education tools to first responders and public safety organizations. This grant would allow Hernando County Fire Rescue and Emergency Services (HCFR) to purchase each firefighter a multi-purpose boot that has a 10-year warranty. This multi-purpose puncture-resistant boot can be worn in the station, on EMS calls, to wildland brush fires and on urban search and rescue deployments. The grant would enable the purchase of 108 pairs of the boots at a cost of $369.99 each, for a total of $39,958.92. The application for this grant is processed through their portal.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
Upon award, a budget resolution will be provided. Upon approval, the total amount will be budgeted.

The Board has authority to act on this matter pursuant to Chapter 125, Florida Statutes.

RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the Board authorize Division Chief Chad Coates to submit an electronic application for this year’s Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation Grant, as there is a very short window to submittal window. The grant portal opens October 9, 2025.
