BRIEF OVERVIEW

Hernando County Fleet Management is requesting the ability to purchase a total of 106 vehicles and equipment for the County. Thirty-three (33) are new additions to the Vehicle Replacement Program and seventy-three (73) are actual replacements.  All seventy-three (73) of the vehicles/equipment being turned in by the departments will go to surplus.  The estimated cost to purchase the vehicles/equipment is $12,586,208.55. Twenty-five (25) of the vehicles/equipment will be purchased by departments utilizing the one-time payment option estimated at $1,762,442.38.  Six (6) of the vehicles will be purchased with grant funding estimated at $193,384.00. The remaining seventy-three (73) will be part of the Fleet Replacement Program with an estimated cost of $10,630,382.17.  Funds will be available with the approval of the future requested loan. Departments have budgeted for these vehicles in the FY26 budgets.

 

FINANCIAL IMPACT

Funding for vehicles will be provided from the sources listed above.  However, all vehicles will be expensed from the Fleet Replacement Program Fund:

Fund: 5081 - Fleet Replacement Program, Department: 08031 - Fleet Replacement Program, Account: 5606405 - Equip/Vehicles/Trailers>$5,000, with the approval of the attached replacement list.

 

LEGAL NOTE

The Board may act upon this matter pursuant to Chapter 2, Article V, Division 1 - Procurement Ordinance of the Hernando County Code of Ordinances, and Chapter 125, Florida Statutes.

RECOMMENDATION

It is recommended the Board approve and authorize the Chief Procurement Officer to sign and award purchase orders for vehicles under the Fleet Replacement Program, as budgets allow.
