Discussion Regarding Waterways Advisory Committee

BRIEF OVERVIEW

The Board of County Commissioners directed staff to present options for consideration for the future of the Waterways Advisory Committee.  Those options are as follows:

 

Option 1: Dissolution of the Waterways Advisory Committee.  An ordinance to dissolve the committee is provided with this agenda for Board consideration.  No financial impact.  If the Board opts for this course of action, the ordinance will be advertised and brought back for formal adoption at a later date.

 

Option 2:  Schedule future Waterways Advisory Committee meetings in the Board of County Commissioner Chambers after hours (5pm - 8pm).  There are costs associated with this option: 

 

a.                     Security - Three (3) Off-Duty Deputies at $45 per hour for a minimum of 3 hours = $405.00 per meeting.

                     

b.                     Clerk IT - One (1) IT representative to operate the audio-visual components for the meeting at $41.67 per hour for a minimum of 3 hours = $125.01 per meeting.

 

Total Costs: $530.01 per meeting.

Option 3: Conduct waterway updates every quarter as a public agenda item on the Board of County Commission regular business meeting. No financial impact.

 

FINANCIAL IMPACT

Option 1: No financial impact.

 

Option 2: Six (6) Meetings per year at a cost of $530.01 per meeting:  Total financial impact = $3,180.06 per year.

 

Option 3: No financial impact.

The Board is authorized to act upon this matter pursuant to Chapter 125, Florida Statutes.

It is recommended that the Board review the options for consideration and provide staff with a final determination.
