BRIEF OVERVIEW
Hernando County Traffic Operations maintains all the County's Traffic Signals which are all Econolite equipment, including signal cabinets, controllers and malfunction management units, and are compatible with the Traffic Management Center. Therefore, to maintain compatibility with all the County's Traffic Signals and the Traffic Management Center, only Econolite equipment is used.
Econolite Control Products, Inc. is the sole developer, provider and manufacturer for their equipment in the State of Florida, including the Cobalt controller and (TS2-TYPE 1) traffic signal cabinets. Econolite does not have any other distributors within the State of Florida. Econolite Control Products, Inc. offers repair services, warranty repairs, and on-site visits as required.
The Procurement Department posted a Notice of Intended Sole Source to Econolite Control Products, Inc., on May 15, 2026, with the last date for challenges being May 29, the Procurement Department has received no challenges. The Chief Procurement Officer has reviewed this requirement for conformance to the Procurement Ordinance and Purchasing Policies and Procedures.
