BRIEF OVERVIEW
Library Services seeks the approval to apply for a grant through the Florida Humanities Public Humanities Program Grants. This grant supports public humanities-programming that preserves, promotes, and shares the histories, literatures, cultures and personal stories of Florida and its communities. The application deadline is April 15, 2026.
The Library plans to submit an application for a program at the Spring Hill Branch that will engage community members in a humanities-based public program (e.g., lecture series, panel discussion, oral history collection, community forum) that aligns with the Florida Humanities funding priorities. Eligible awards are up to $10,000.
By participating in this grant opportunity, the library will strengthen its commitment to community engagement, local history, cultural literacy, and inclusive access to public humanities programming.

FINANCIAL IMPACT
If awarded, the grant will provide up to $10,000 in funding to support the programming. Florida Humanities requires a minimum 1:1 cost share (match). The required match will be met through in-kind contributions, such as staff time, use of library facilities, and other non-cash support associated with the program.

The Board has the authority to act upon this matter pursuant to Chapter 125, Florida Statutes.

It is recommended that the Board approve the submission of an application to the Florida Humanities Public Humanities Program Grants and authorize staff to take all necessary actions to complete the application process.
