BRIEF OVERVIEW
In April 2024, the Florida Department of Commerce announced the availability of the Community Planning and Technical Assistance Grant funds for the 2024 state fiscal year. These funds provide eligible entities, including local governments, the opportunity to create innovative plans and development strategies to promote a diverse economy, vibrant rural and suburban areas and meet statutory requirements for planning, while also protecting environmentally sensitive areas.

The deadline for submission to the Florida Department of Commerce was May 10, 2024, prior to the next regularly scheduled Board meeting. County staff is requesting ratification of the submission to of the Community Planning and Technical Assistance Grant application to the Florida Department of Commerce for the South Brooksville Community Redevelopment Area (CRA) Plan in the amount of $75,000.00. No matching funds are required.

The proposed scope of work includes:
* a commencement meeting,
* existing conditions inventory,
* a comprehensive public involvement campaign,
* public and stakeholder review of draft plan elements,
* presentation of the draft plan,
* and approval of the final CRA plan by the community and the Hernando County Board of County Commissioners and the Brooksville City Council.

The final CRA Plan will identify essential facilities and elements desired to support the overall vision for the plan, include graphics, conceptual drawings and designs that illustrate locations for proposed master plan elements, and identify on and off-site improvements necessary to construct capital improvement projects.
