Budget Amendment Realigning Funds From Reserves for Contingency to Professional Services and Contracted Services to Cover Unanticipated Expenses for Veterinarian Services for Animal Services Department

BRIEF OVERVIEW
Animal Services’ (HCAS) Staff Veterinarian resigned from Hernando County which required HCAS to seek outside assistance from local clinics to provide Professional Veterinarian Services and an onsite Relief Veterinarian. There is an increase in costs relating to software changes that are included in this request. As this was not planned in the FY24 budget HCAS would require additional funds. Therefore, the attached budget amendment is submitted for Board approval to realign funds from Reserves to appropriate expenditure accounts to fund these additional costs.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
HCAS requires funds in the amount of $320,000.00, available in the following account with approval of attached budget amendment.
• Account No. 0011-01421-5303101 ($300,000.00) Professional Services
• Account No. 0011-01421-5303401 ($20,000.00) Contracted Services

The Board has the authority to act on this matter pursuant to Chapter 125, Florida Statutes.

RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the Board approve the attached budget amendment realigning $320,000.00 from Reserves to Professional Services and Contracted Services to fund the above mentioned expenditures.
