BRIEF OVERVIEW

Fire Rescue and Emergency Services is experiencing continued growth in calls for service, coupled with the addition of new fire stations to serve the citizens of Hernando County. The department has identified the critical need for a Senior Project Manager.

Fire Rescue and Emergency Services currently operates out of 14 Fire Stations, 1 Logistics/Prevention Building. Current/Future projects include at least 3 new Fire Stations, a Logistics Facility, and cooperative operation of a Training/EOC Complex.  All these structures are subject to heavy year-round use, with all fire stations remaining open 24-hours a day, 365 days a year.  Proper maintenance and ensuring proper design maximize the lifespan of these structures.

FINANCIAL IMPACT

Funding is available in various personnel accounts in Fund 1661 Fire in the amount of $56,304 and Fund 1691 Emergency Medical Services in the amount of $42,472 upon approval of attached budget amendment.
