Discussion Regarding Potential Minor Code of Ordinance Revisions Pertaining to County Operations

body

BRIEF OVERVIEW

The Board of County Commissioners has expressed interest in reviewing and amending select, unrelated provisions of the County Code in advance of the comprehensive Code of Ordinances rewrite. The objective of this effort is to eliminate unnecessary procedural steps for residents and to enhance the efficiency of County operations. The following items are proposed for minor revisions:

1.                     Administrative approval of Conditional Use Permits for a Temporary Second Residence for citizens diagnosed with medical conditions and Temporary Security Residences for parcels under home construction with active building permits.

2.                     Increase in the number of chickens and the addition of ducks to the current Conditional Use Permit process.

3.                     Eliminate the building permit requirement for chicken coops under 120 square feet.

4.                     Eliminate the requirement for zoning permits for sheds under 120 square feet.

5.                     Increase the expiration date of Planned Development Project master plans from the current 2-year expiration timeframe to 5 years.

6.                     Eliminate Planned development Project application requirements.

7.                     Review Special Exception Uses in the AR-1 (Agricultural Residential-1), AR-2 (Agricultural Residential-2) and AR (Agricultural Residential) districts.

8.                     Revise the Landscape ordinance to require single family landscape requirements be installed at final building inspection and prior to Certificate of Occupancy.

9.                     Sidewalks in Rural zoning districts.

10.                     Tiny Home research/ordinance update.
