BRIEF OVERVIEW
To help low-income households in the Duke Energy Florida, LLC (Duke Energy) service territory save energy and reduce utility expenses, Duke Energy is offering to enter into a partnership with Hernando County’s State Housing Initiative Partnership and Community Development Block Grant Program (CDBG) home rehabilitation efforts/projects. This partnership will allow Duke Energy to perform energy inspections to see if the rehabilitation projects meet Duke Energy’s criteria. In return, Duke Energy will provide Hernando County with incentives for energy-efficient improvements installed according to local/state codes and standards as outlined in the proposed Low Income Weatherization Assistance Program Incentive Agreement (LIWAP).
FINANCIAL IMPACT
Funds provided will be credited to:
Fund: 0011 - General Fund, Department: 03711 - Social Services, Account: 3699000 - Miscellaneous Revenue and used on other housing and supportive services projects or initiatives.
A project code will be used to track this activity. The project code for the Duke Rebate & Repair Project (RRP) will be Duke-RRP.

The Board has authority to act on this matter pursuant to Chapter 125, Florida Statutes.

RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the Board approve the attached Low Income Weatherization Assistance Program Incentive Agreement and associated budget resolution for anticipated funds as well as authorize the Chairman’s signature on them.
