Ratification of Proclamation No. 2024-07 Declaring State of Local Emergency Due to Hurricane Milton

BRIEF OVERVIEW
Governor Ron DeSantis declared a State of Emergency in the State of Florida due to the severity of Hurricane Milton, and a State of Local Emergency was subsequently declared by Hernando County for a period of seven days from October 6, 2024, through October 12, 2024. In conjunction with the Executive Policy Group, the Board Chairwoman signed Proclamation No. 2024-07 on October 6, 2024, declaring the Local State of Emergency, ending at 11:59 p.m., on October 12, 2024.
A copy of Executive Order No. 24-214 is also attached.

The Board has authority to act on this matter pursuant to Chapter 252, Florida Statutes, Hernando County Code XII, § 21-201 through 21-210 and Executive Order No. 24-214.

RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the Board approve the actions taken by Emergency Management during the State of Emergency declared for Hurricane Milton and ratify the Chairwoman’s signature on Proclamation Number 2024-07.
