BRIEF OVERVIEW
Staff received a request from Norma Smith, Finance Assistant of Mid Florida Homeless Coalition, for a resolution proclaiming November 11, 2023, through November 18, 2023, as National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week in Hernando County.
The attached resolution acknowledges that hunger and homelessness continue to be a serious problem for many individuals and families in Hernando County. It serves to educate the public about the many reasons people are hungry and homeless; encourages support for homeless assistance service providers, food pantries, as well as community service opportunities for students and school service organizations; and recognizes organizations committed to addressing and resolving the many needs of the homeless.

It is recommended the Board adopt the attached resolution proclaiming November 11, 2023, through November 18, 2023, as National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week in Hernando County.
