BRIEF OVERVIEW

Pursuant to Section 21-206, Emergency Management Director James Coleman will provide the Board with a report regarding the actions taken during Hurricane Irma.

 

Governor Ron DeSantis declared a State of Emergency in every county in the State of Florida due to the severity and magnitude of the hurricane on September 24, 2022.  A State of Local Emergency was declared for a period of seven (7) days for Hernando County, effective September 26, 2022. A copy of the Governor's Executive Order and Declaration of State of Local Emergency is attached.

The Board has authority to act on this matter pursuant to Chapter 252, Florida Statutes, Hernando County Code XII, § 21-201 through 21-210, and Executive Order No. 21-219.

RECOMMENDATION

It is recommended that the Board ratify the actions taken by Emergency Management during the State of Emergency declared for Hurricane Ian.
