BRIEF OVERVIEW

At the March 25, 2025, Board meeting, a proposed amendment to Section 28-509 of Chapter 28 was discussed.  Staff was directed to schedule a public hearing with the proposed revisions to the current fertilizer ordinance and change the restrictions for fertilizers containing Nitrogen. The current restrictions prohibit the application of fertilizers containing Nitrogen from December 15th through March 15th and June 1st through September 30th. The proposed ordinance would change these restrictions to a new schedule of October 1st through March 31st.

The Board has the authority to act on this item pursuant to Chapter 125, Florida Statutes.

RECOMMENDATION

It is recommended that the Board hear public comment on this matter and decide whether or not to adopt the proposed ordinance amending the use of fertilizer in Chapter 28 of the Code of Ordinances.
