Second Amendment to Interlocal Agreement With District 5 and District 24 for Cost Share of Medical Examiner Services and Related Matters
body
BRIEF OVERVIEW
On October 1, 2013, Hernando, Citrus, Lake, Marion and Sumter Counties entered a contract with Medicus Forensics, P.A., for the operation of Florida Medical Examiner District 5.
On September 25, 2018, the District 5 counties entered into an Interlocal Agreement (ILA) with Seminole County (District 24) for joint operation of District 5 and District 24 Medical Examiner’s offices (both operated by Medicus Forensics). The ILA arranged for cost sharing between District 5 and District 24; it also created an Advisory Committee consisting of one commissioner from each of the District 5 counties to determine the annual rate of compensation for the Medical Examiner services.
On August 10, 2021, the ILA was amended to add a commissioner from Seminole to the Committee (First Amendment).
The ILA (as amended) expires September 30, 2023. The purpose of this second amendment is to extend the ILA to September 30, 2024, while a new interlocal agreement is negotiated.
