Budget Amendment Transferring Funds From Opioid Settlement Reserves Account to Various Opioid Settlement Accounts

body

BRIEF OVERVIEW

According to the 2021 Florida Opioid Allocation and Statewide Response Agreement,  allowable usage of the Opioid Settlement Funds include administrative costs totaling no more than 5%, as well as services and programs for the prevention and education, treatment, and recovery for the abatement of the opioid crisis.

Opioid Settlement Funds from previous years have been placed in reserves for administrative costs and services and programs to address the opioid crisis.  Funds from reserves are now being transferred to cover the cost associated with the day-to-day operation, planning and delivery of services and programs to the community.

Staff requests approval of the transfer from Reserves to other expense accounts for administrative costs and aid to private providers for the abatement of the opioid crisis.

FINANCIAL IMPACT

Funds totaling $774,920 are available in the following:

Expense:

Fund: 1557- Opioid Settlement, Department: 01557 - Opioid Settlement, Account: 5909910 - Budget Reserve for Contingency

Administrative costs total $54,450, the remaining $720,470 is for aid to private organizations.
