BRIEF OVERVIEW
Hernando County Fire and Emergency Services (HCFES) is requesting to increase the ambulance billing rates effective May 1, 2026, as shown in the attachment Exhibit A. Our current rates were last updated August 1, 2023. The new billing schedule also includes the adjustment of Special Event rates to include current personnel and vehicle costs.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
Should the increase of ambulance rates bring a conservative 50% collection rate, the increase would be approximately $6,150,000 annually. The rate increase will provide additional revenue to stabilize the EMS fund.

The Board is authorized to act on this matter pursuant to Chapter 125, Florida Statutes.

RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the Board approve and authorize the Chairman’s signature on the attached resolution revising the fee schedule for EMS billing rates and special event rates.
